Series dates: 1920-1936

Fifteen reprinted titles each focusing on a famous composer, issued in the 1920s. Each title has a forward by Francesco Berger. The series was published by Sampson Low. The jackets are unique to each title, with an illustration of the composer surrounded by a music-themed border. The illustrations, also included as a frontispiece, are by Fred Adlington (himself a minor composer and conductor in England in the 1910s and 1920s). The front jacket flap is blank. The jacket spine includes the price (2/6 net) but not the series name. This copy of Purcell by Dr. W.H. Cummings is undated, but probably mid-1920s.
The fifteen titles in the series are listed on the rear of the jacket. The rear flap is blank.
