M.A. Donohue & Company (Chicago, US)
Series dates: 1900-1930
Size: 5″ x 7.5″
As with A. L. Burt Company (New York, US), M.A. Donohue & Co. published many gift and juvenile editions of books in different series. Their primary location was in Chicago.
The Calumet Series was aimed at adults and included popular copyright fiction of the early 20th century. The series was advertised as early as 1900. This book and jacket are from the late 1920s (the book is dated 1928). The jacket cover has an illustration unique to the tile. The front flap has an advertisement for other Donohue titles.
Titles in the series (as of the late 1920s) contain nothing that would be considered a classic (and few authors read today).
The price was .50 cents.
Bindings were cloth, with the book title stamped on the cover.
